rupi kaur, home body:
i began writing home body while fighting one of the most difficult battles of my life. an unforgiving depression was draining me of my vitality and spirit.
i felt like i was dying from the inside. as if i were frozen in place and the world was moving on without me. as the years passed, i lost more and more the will to live.
this book is proof that i won a battle i thought was going to kill me. above all, i’m excited to take home body into the future, because waiting inside tomorrow are bigger battles. and when i fight them, i won’t be wondering whether i’m going to make it. i know that i will, because these poems are a testament to my survival.
.
.
home body is how i taught myself to thunder, roar and shine.
after feeling disconnected for so long
my mind and body are finally
coming back to each other
